The Urban Sculpture Wall

Art has the ability to provoke thought and inspire action. As an Artist, it is part of my responsibility to raise this critical global issue in reducing waste and promoting sustainability. I was grateful to have the opportunity in working closely with Melbourne award winning firm, Wall Architect for Parlance Coffee at The Strand Melbourne.

The duration of this project took approximately 4 months. One such approach is through the installation based on recycled materials to create this rock wall in bring the originality of nature in a futuristic interior in the heart of CBD Melbourne. Which not only raises awareness about sustainability but also repurposes discarded items to create new, thought-provoking pieces of art in this urban city.

It can take various forms, including sculptures, installations, paintings, and mixed-media pieces. What sets recycled artwork apart is its emphasis on sustainability and its potential to spark conversations about our consumption patterns and waste generation.

By transforming these items into art, artists are able to give them a new life and highlight the potential for upcycling and repurposing as a means of waste reduction.

Recycled artwork also challenges traditional notions of aesthetics and beauty. Artists often experiment with unconventional materials, textures, and colors to create unique and thought-provoking pieces. By pushing the boundaries of artistic expression and utilizing unconventional materials, recycled art challenges our perceptions of what is considered beautiful or valuable, and encourages us to see the potential in discarded materials that are often overlooked.

In conclusion, artwork based on recycled materials and sustainability is a powerful form of artistic expression that addresses critical environmental issues, challenges conventional notions of aesthetics, and promotes sustainable practices in the arts and beyond. Through June’s creativity and innovation, artist is repurposing discarded materials into meaningful and thought-provoking pieces that inspire others to rethink their relationship with waste and consumption. The striking realistic look of this rock wall is continue to strive for a more sustainable future, recycled artwork serves as a poignant reminder of the need to reduce, reuse, and recycle for the well-being of our planet and future generations

Parlance Cafe is also incorporating recycled materials into their product lines such as packaging and reusable coffee cups in front of the installation as an effort to reduce waste and promote eco-friendliness of our urban Melbourne and this world.

The "Escape" Room

Carefree spirit & the idea of embracing moments of pleasure and relaxation, regardless of the pressures of the outside world!
— June Chen

"Smoke Two Joints" is a song originally written and recorded by The Toyes in 1983. It gained significant popularity when it was covered by the band Sublime on their 1992 album "40oz. to Freedom." The song's lyrics revolve around the act of smoking marijuana, but they also contain a light-hearted and carefree attitude.

The song's meaning is fairly straightforward. The lyrics describe a laid-back and relaxed scenario where the singer smokes two joints (marijuana cigarettes) to alleviate stress, boredom, or simply to enjoy a good time. The act of smoking joints is presented as a way to unwind and escape the troubles of everyday life, as well as a way to bond with friends and enhance social experiences.

"Smoke Two Joints" is often interpreted as a celebration of counterculture and rebellion against societal norms, particularly in its promotion of recreational drug use.

Overall, "Smoke Two Joints" can be seen as a light-hearted anthem that embraces a relaxed and carefree attitude, while also acknowledging the use of marijuana as a means of escape and enjoyment.
